M. CAROLYN BARNES, age 85, surrounded
by her family, she went to be with her Lord on May 3, 2019. Born in Clarks Hill, IN to Frank and Bertha (Strohl) Auble on September 2, 1933. She graduated from Manual High School (1951). Then went on to graduate from Butler University (1956). Married Harry Elmer Barnes in 1957. Spending her life being dedicated to education, teaching business classes at Greenfield H.S. and Plainfield H.S., raising her four children, and then returning to education with ITT. While with ITT, Carolyn taught Shorthand classes at their night school, moving to director of several of their schools, and ending her career working at their headquarters as the Director of Curriculum and Retention. She retired in 1998.
Carolyn was very passionate about many things in her life. One being, life in her church where she was 50-year member of Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. Throughout those years serving her church, she was active as an Elder and Deacon, member of the Sanctuary Choir, and Bell Choir, also a devoted member of her small group. Reading, quilting, sewing, knitting, daily devotions, and over a decade of playing her violin with the Athenaeum Orchestra, kept her happy and filled with delight. Most of all, in her life, she loved spending time with her family. These things filled her heart with LOVE and JOY.
Proceeded in death by her parents, siblings Paul Auble, Harold Auble, Damon Auble, Rol Auble, Ruth Ann Outcalt, nephew Steve Outcalt, and ex- husband Harry E. Barnes. Survivors being Nancy (Ron) Baker of Indianapolis, IN; Janet (Greg) Winebar of Houston, TX; Barbara Winebar of Noblesville, IN; Michael (Amy) Barnes of Indianapolis, IN; 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Roberta Auble, brother-in-law Merlin Outcalt, and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The services for Carolyn will be as follows:
Service and visitations will take place at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church 1605 E. 106th Street, Indianapolis 46280
Visitation, Monday, May 6, 2019, 5-7 p.m.
Visitation, Tuesday, May 7, 2019, 11 a.m.- Noon Memorial Service, Tuesday, May 7, 2019, Noon – 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Music ministry of Orchard Park Presbyterian Church.
